Background:

Y-PEER is recruiting a creative director for a project designed to promote peace and reconciliation. The project will incorporate a people-to-people approach and empower youth to advance peace, stability, and dialogue through organized groups, civic participation, positive media, and localized peace projects.  The project will enable youth groups of each city to work with municipal councils and other relevant actors to promote peace processes, reconciliation, and peaceful co-existence. Activities will mitigate conflicts from escalating by providing targeted support to peace actors, community-level leaders/groups and influencers, and constituent-responsive authorities who are engaged in, or wish to be engaged in, peace-building, conflict mitigation, and reconciliation.

Position Summary:

Y-PEER is seeking a qualified Creative Director that will lead a team of media officers.
He/She is responsible for maintaining a unique brand voice, developing and executing press and public relations, and social media management and how Y-PEER and all of its work appear to the public.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage storytelling strategy and implementation to capture Y-PEER ’s impact and activities.
  • Support implementation of Y-PEER ’s communications and digital media strategy across traditional and online media platforms;
  • Create and lead a team of volunteers regarding photography, editing, design, and making short videos and summaries;
  • Draft and edit written materials, communication plans, and content as needed for partner, program, and communications teams;
  • Monitor media coverage and prepare regular evaluation reports;
  • Lead press strategy and outreach, working to maintain and expand Y-PEER ’s press relationship;
  • Draft statements, talking points, blog posts, and press releases;
  • Create messaging for social media kits and press kits;
  • Keep up-to-date on communications and digital industry standards and trends;
  • Attend and cover live events as applicable in accordance with the IT Officer; and
  • Any other related duties assigned to the candidate

 

The Part-Time Creative director will devote 80 percent of his or her time to this project.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in art, graphic design, marketing, communications, journalism and other relevant fields;
  • A minimum of 5 years’ digital experience, particularly with, but not limited to web, social and emerging technologies;
  • A solid understanding of design, copy and web practices;
  • Brilliant interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of brand development and multichannel marketing models;
  • Must be a creative and strategic thinker;
  • Ability to make decisions that align with strategy, vision, and mission.
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, Outlook);
  • Fluency in Arabic and preference for strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
