4Mi Project Assistant

DRC’s North Africa Regional Office offers support and advice to four country operations in North Africa. The role of the 4Mi Project Assistant is to support the implementation of 4Mi qualitative research in Tunisia and Libya, under the supervision of the Libya team leader. The project assistant assists in writing interview transcriptions, translating documents from-to English-Arabic, and coordinating with 4Mi monitors on their qualitative interviews.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

Team administration

  • In coordination with Libya team leader, the project assistant works on translating documents from-to English-Arabic, writing transcriptions of interviews, coordinating with 4Mi monitors on their qualitative interviews;
  • Supports in the translation and revision of 4Mi related tools, presentations and documents from-to English and Arabic;
  • Take the lead in proposing creative solutions when meeting challenges in project implementation;

Research

  • Providing insights and contextual information that is relevant to MMC research;
  • Proactively contributes to the research life of MMC North Africa;
  • Any additional tasks required to support MMC research and operations in Libya.

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to have at least 1 year experience in translating and reviewing documents and reports in English and Arabic. Moreover, we expect the following:

  • An experience in data collection, conducting surveys, qualitative interviews and writing transcriptions and other research activities.
  • Demonstrated interest in mixed migration issues, particularly within the North Africa context;
  • Excellent IT skills;
  • Good organizational skills and experience with following standard procedures and guidelines
  • Enthusiastic about learning;
  • Young graduate or university student in a relevant field, including but not limited to languages, international development, migration studies or business administration.
  • Written and verbal fluency in English and Arabic.
  • Professional proficiency of French is an asset.
  • Strong verbal and written communication for both English and Arabic, French is desirable.

Start date: 01 september 2021
