 Job Summary:


The IMC Security Officer is responsible for the daily operation of all security-related procedures, protocols, and internal reporting.

As the focal point for staff safety and security, (s)he is responsible for daily Intelligence gathering and direct update of all and any added value information potentially, indirectly, and directly affecting IMC operations to the Country Director.
(S)he is also in charge of collating intelligence of the week into a weekly Situation Report made available to the Senior Management Team and the HQ Security Department via email every Thursday at no later than 15:00 hrs Tripoli time.

Aside from this, the Security officer is also charged with the overall responsibility for the Security Guards in Tripoli, including but not limited to staff management, roster management, implementation of security-related protocols and procedures.

Lastly, the Security Officer will conduct weekly checks of all security and safety-related equipment such as (but not limited to) communications equipment (incl.
chargers, batteries, base stations, and charging cables – as applicable), hibernation kits & stock (where applicable) fire
extinguishers, first aid kits, etc.

Main Tasks:
  •  Adhere to IMC security policies and procedures.
  •  Immediately Inform the direct supervisor of any incident that may impact safety and security.
  • Carry out spot-checks of the guards at IMC Office and guesthouse.
  • Routine patrols accompanying the assigned guard checking for any safety and security issues. It is the Security Officer’s duty to ensure all security systems such as the CCTV and PIDS alarms are in immaculate working condition.
  • Reporting of all and any faults and service issues of the security systems are to the CSM /Logistics dept.
  • Submit recommendations of safety and security improvements for consideration.
  • Ensure all the guards have reported working and are assigned duties.
  • Use the information collected from guards and appropriate external sources to compile comprehensive security weekly reports.
  • Weekly checks of safety and security equipment as per the above description.
  • Record any adjustments to the guard shift roster due to sick or compassionate leave and submit to CSM.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the CSM.
Required Qualifications:
  •  Higher education; university degree in defense and security or logistics/IT (also political science, international relations, and/or police/military background are assets).
  • At least 5-years of professional working experience, preferably in a similar position and/or security management role; 8-years in the absence of formal tertiary education.
  • Membership of recognized international Security Industry organizations is an asset.

 

Professional Experience:

 

  •  At least 5-years’ professional working experience, preferably in a similar position and/or security management environment.
  •  Minimum of 5-years spent working in a challenging, high-risk operating environment. Working in security/risk consulting is an asset.
  • Excellent working knowledge of ICT technologies and computer applications (i.e. Microsoft Office suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Well-developed analytical skills and knowledge of open-source information gathering and processing with a focus on:

 

·         Excellent knowledge of the Libyan context.

·         Disposition to travel within Libya – Misrata, Benghazi & Sabha.

·         Excellent command of Oral and Written English & Arabic.

·         Excellent communication and reporting skills.

 

Other knowledge, additional competencies:

 

·         Ability to work independently and multi-task.

·         Reputation of integrity, credibility, and firmness.

·         Demonstrated decision-making capacity.

·         Excellent competencies in personnel management and people skills in a multi-cultural environment.

·         Good working knowledge of modern communication and surveillance systems (CCTV, VHF-radio, Satellite Telephone, GPS-based vehicle tracking technology, etc.).

Other Comments:

Prevention promotes PSEA (Prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse) standards within International Medical Corps and amongst beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps.

Any other duties that may be assigned from time by supervisors
