Job Description
Project Location: Shahat, Derna with travel to surrounding locations
Reports to: Protection Supervisor
Project information: Storm Daniel Flood Response, North-eastern Libya, funded by UNHCR. The project will provide emergency-response psychosocial support to affected-persons in the affected communities including in the Mantika’s of Al Jabal Al Akhdar, Almari, Benghazi, Derna and Tobruk.
CESVI is recruiting two PSS officers who will be part of the response providing psychosocial support to affected people.
Scope of the position
Under the supervision of the Protection Supervisor and with technical support from the MHPSS Specialist, the PSS Officer is responsible for providing group awareness-raising PSS to vulnerable persons, organize PFA training, and to support with the implementation of any workshops or training on MHPSS-related topics with a focus on trauma-informed care, recovery and providing crisis support.
General Tasks:
- Conduct awareness raising sessions on psychosocial support topics including stress management, PTSD, self-care and child protection that will support in the return to regular daily routines and activities.
- Identify cases in need of specialized psychological support, refer to Psychologist.
- Represent CESVI in a professional manner in meetings and ensure good cooperation with local stakeholders, project partners and other relevant actors.
- Adhere to CESVI’s Children Safeguarding Policy, PSEA Policy, Code of Conduct, and uphold the highest standards of conduct. Report concerns through the relevant CESVI channels.
- Fulfil other additional tasks requested by the MHPSS Specialist and Field Coordinator.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Submit weekly and monthly activity reports to MHPSS Specialist and Child Protection (CP) Supervisor on the progress of psychological activities.

Requirements:
University degree in Psychology or Social Work
- At least 3 years of experience working in social services.
- At least 2 years of experience with children, experience with children with disabilities desired
- Experience with NGOs and INGOs is an advantage.
- Ability to work under pressure and in an emergency context.
- Flexible and collaborative approach to working with colleagues.
- Experience in drafting and compiling reports
- Excellent knowledge of English and Arabic
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently.
- Excellent self-motivation skills
- Ability to travel and provide mobile support.
- Knowledge of Child Protection Principles
