Y-PEER is a global network of more than 2,000 non-profit organizations, governmental institutions, CBOs, institutions, youth activists, young peer educators and trainers. It has over 33,000 young members from 59 countries including Libya – from 2010 – who work in promoting young people’s sexual and reproductive health, including physical and mental health related to HIV/AIDS, maternal health, gender-based violence, youth participation, civic engagement and development of a culture of citizenship.
Background:
Y-PEER is recruiting an Project Officer for a project designed to promote peace and reconciliation. The project will incorporate a people-to-people approach and empower youth to advance peace, stability, and dialogue through organized groups, civic participation, positive media, and localized peace projects. The project will enable youth groups of each city to work with municipal councils and other relevant actors to promote peace processes, reconciliation, and peaceful co-existence. Activities will mitigate conflicts from escalating by providing targeted support to peace actors, community-level leaders/groups and influencers, and constituent-responsive authorities who are engaged in, or wish to be engaged in, peace-building, conflict mitigation, and reconciliation.
Position Summary:
The Y-PEER is seeking qualified Project Officer who will work under the direction of the Project Coordinator and provide technical assistance to ensure that the Y-Peer Project goals and objectives are achieved. This Officer will assist with planning, reporting, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the project
Main Responsibilities:
- Works closely with the Project Coordinator in defining the project scope and in the development of the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) to facilitate decision-making for project start-up.
- Work with project coordinator to define the values, mission, and planning for short- and long-term goals;
- Organize and keep a proper communication channels as a focal point between the project and its partners, including: all participants, team leaders, and the other cities trainers
- Conduct regular meetings with staffs to discuss about the updates, ideas and issues;
- Assists with the preparation of the Project Implementation Plan (PIP) and other key documents to support the project.
- Assists with the creation of the Annual Work Plans (AWPs) and schedules for the project and its components for the approval of the Project Manager.
- Assists with the implementation of records management, communications, feedback, monitoring and evaluation frameworks are effectively established to facilitate project start up and to support the project to completion under the direction of the Project Coordinator.
- Assists the Project Coordinator with the establishment of sustainability and project exit strategies from the inception of the project.
- Interfaces with project contractors, keeps track of their deliverables, and keeps the Project Coordinator up-to-date.
- Prepares regular reports to assist the Project Coordinator to track the progress of project components to ensure schedules and deadlines are being met.
- Identify project issues and possible solutions, and bring them to the attention of the Project Coordinator for action.
- Any other related duties assigned to the candidate.
The project officer is a full-time employee, with 100 percent of his or her time devoted to the project
