Physiotherapist
The position will be based in Benghazi Sub Delegation.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The successful candidate will contribute to the implementing, running, and monitoring the physical rehabilitation program(s), in cooperation with the physical rehabilitation team, according to the objectives set out in the delegation’s annual planning for a specific geographic area or field of activities. S/He assesses and provides support to and within an ICRC-run or supported physical rehabilitation center and fulfills various roles to lead in the promotion, improvement, and maintenance of people’s mobility, health, and well-being.
Main Responsibilities:
- Supervise, participate in, and/or provide on-the-job training to Physiotherapists in ICRC assisted Physical Rehabilitation Centers (PRCs).
- Support implementation of and exemplify the multidisciplinary/interdisciplinary team approach in PRCs.
- Guide and support provision of the services following the ICRC Physiotherapy standards with guidance from mobile Physiotherapists.
- With guidance and support of the mobile PRP staff, provide follow-ups in an effective and efficient manner to ensure ICRC recommendations are being implemented in PRCs.
- Provide support in accordance with logistics standards, support the PRP warehouse in BEH whenever required, carry out logistical tasks related to physical rehabilitation services, follow-up on monthly consumption and inventory levels with PRCs, and organize/manage distributions as per the distribution tracking procedures.
- Assist in statistical data collection and ensures proper management of information collected.
- Draft minutes of meetings and other relevant reports in a timely manner.
- Report on physical rehabilitation context, needs, and programs at an internal and external level, in addition, to report on problems or misunderstandings with accuracy and without delays.
- Manage referrals of persons with disabilities, adhere to the financial assistance guidelines (e.g. transport and accommodation support) set by mobile PRP staff, manage payment to persons with disabilities as per the ICRC financial rules and report accordingly.
- Interpret/translate at meetings whenever required and translate documents from Arabic to English and vice versa.
- Participate in the analysis of and reflection on the overall physical rehabilitation service provision situation; contribute to realistic project proposals in line with the delegation’s objectives and priorities.
- Work with other ICRC departments/structures and partners (where applicable) to coordinate referrals for persons with disabilities from far locations to access services at the Benghazi rehabilitation center.
- Liaise and build networks with local stakeholders to facilitate communication on and coordination of activities, thereby ensuring more efficient implementation of physical rehabilitation projects.
- Support activities related to societal integration and sport for people with disabilities in BEH AoR.
- Assist in EcoSec Micro Economic Initiatives (MEIs) development and implementation in BEH AoR.
- Communicate and follow up with the PRC`s management for all scholarship-related matters and support the national education (scholarship) files whenever needed.
- Collaborate with other ICRC departments – Health, WatHab, EcoSec…etc whenever necessary.
Required background, skills, and competencies:
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in physiotherapy, or technical diploma in physiotherapy with 3 years full-time training, with a valid license to practice in the country of residence:
- Minimum 2 years work experience in physical rehabilitation.
- Some experience in amputee prosthetic rehabilitation is an asset.
- Relevant additional degrees (e.g. public health, rehabilitation techniques) are an asset.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English and Arabic.
- Teaching experience and skills are strong assets.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to adapt and interact constructively with others.
- Proven planning and organizing skills.
- Service-oriented and flexible.
- Capacity to handle sensitive information with strict confidentiality and ethics.
- Genuine interest in humanitarian activities (especially ICRC’s), previous experience in the humanitarian environment is an asset.
