Position: Language Facilitator
Report to: Center Manager Status: Non-employment agreement Duty station: Sabha |
Key responsibilities: S/he will be responsible, under the supervision of the center manager, for assisting and supporting the educational and PSS activities implemented for Non-Libyan beneficiaries, facilitating during sessions, activities and events.
Responsibilities/duties:
- Speak, translate and interpret for non-Arabic speakers students and families;
- Provide orientation to new non-Arabic speakers students;
- Studied the content of the lessons prior to class to ensure accurate translation of the lesson;
- Provide support for social and academic needs of non-Arabic speakers BFS;
- Translate documents;
- Monitor progress of non-Arabic speaking BNFs to determine any needed assistance;
- Collaborate with INTERSOS staff to engage families through various outreach efforts;
- Assist the teacher with routine duties when not engaged in facilitating communication;.
- Perform other related work as required;
Other responsibilities:
Uphold the INTERSOS Code of Conduct and policies;
- Ensure the respect of the core humanitarian principles: neutrality, impartiality, independence, humanity, and the respect of the “do no harm” principle of humanitarian action;
- Strictly follow the internal procedures and guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs);
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS
Skills
- Ability to learn and appropriately translate documents requiring specialized/technical vocabulary
- Ability to accurately translate and interpret for non-Arabic speakers adults and children utilizing specific terminology related to education
Soft Skills
- Flexibility, adaptability, and ability to work in a fast paced and stressful work environment
Communication skills
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Languages
- English, Arabic: Mandatory
- French and Housa is a welcomed addition.
