Job Description
The Chef is responsible for ensuring that sufficient stocks of food and catering supplies are maintained at all times in order to provide lunch and dinner meals for seven days per week; while maintaining the highest standard of catering practices, food quality, hygiene, and health and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- To clean the kitchen to a high standard consistent with HSE regulations
- Order and purchase food and kitchen supplies for meals for a seven (7) day period for entitled people to a set budget.
- Ensure health and hygiene
- Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch and dinner meals on time for entitled persons only.
- Ensure that products requiring freezing are correctly stored, and defrosted as per recommended cooking practice.
- Ensure that products are checked weekly for expiry dates and products are used by the “best by” date.
- Provide detailed and original receipts for all purchases.
- Preparation of food in a clean environment
- Ensure that all kitchen equipment and the kitchen are maintained at a high level of cleanliness at all times.
- Correct PPE is to be worn when preparing and cooking food
- Ensure food is cooked correctly and served at the correct temperature
- Ensure quantity of food in relation to employees to reduce waste
